There are around 400 seats for four programmes based on course work: Master of Engineering (ME), Master of Technology (M Tech), Master of Design (M Des) and Master of Management (M Mgt).
ME is offered in following Disciplines: Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources & Environ-mental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Telecommun-ication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Microelectro-nic Systems, Signal Processing, Systems Science & Automation.
Electronic Systems Engineering, Computational Science, ClimateScience, Instrumentation, Transportation and Infrastructure Engineering, Earth Sciences.
The following categories of candidates are eligible to apply for admission to course programmes.
(a) Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology or its equivalent.
(b) Bachelor’s degree holders in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Electronics followed by qualifications obtained through an examination conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE.
(c) Bachelor’s degree holders in Architecture/Design (for M Des programme only)
(d) Master’s degree holders in Science disciplines including Physics with Electronics/ Instrumentation/Geology/ Computer Application/ Physical Sciences/ Mathematical Sciences as applicable to individual department offering M Tech programmes.
All the candidates should qualify in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2012 or 2013) for ME / M Tech, GATE, or in the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED 2012 or 2013) for M Des, and GATE 2012/2013 or CAT 2012/GMAT 2012 for M.Mgt, and possess the valid score card(s) as on 1st August 2013.
Post graduate in the subject.
Admission to the Integrated PhD Programmes is through the Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM), followed by an interview.
The other qualifying tests are IISc Entrance Test, GATE, CSIR UGC NET For JRF, ICMR JRF, DBT JRF, NBHM, JEST, INSPIRE Fellow.
4 year Bachelor of Science (BS) Programme, The programme is designed as a blend of core science and interdisciplinary topics that serves as a launching pad for attractive career opportunities in academia and industry. The novelty of this programme lies in its interdisciplinary approach, strong flavour of engineering, exposure to disciplines in the humanities and social sciences, and a year-long research project.
Candidates who have completed their II PUC / 12th Standard in 2012 and those who are expecting to complete their II PUC / 12th Standard in 2013 are eligible to apply. The candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects during their II PUC / 12th Standard. Candidates who have studied Biology, Statistics, Electronics, Computer Science, etc., in addition to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are also eligible to apply. The candidates must have secured a first class or 60% or equivalent grade (relaxed to pass class for SC/ST candidates) in the II PUC / 12th Standard examination.
The selections for admission are made on the basis of KVPY (Kishor Vaigyani Protsahan Yojna) and IIT-JEE-Main: securing a minimum of 60% (GN), 54% (OBC-NCL), 30% (SC/ST/PH)., IIT-JEE-Advanced: securing a minimum of 60% (GN), 54% (OBC-NCL), 30% (SC/ST/PH) and NEET-UG: with selection in the main merit list.
The fee per year is Rs 10,000 only and Scholarships are also available. TA reimbursements are also available.
The institute offers B Design in product Design and Engineering.
Eligibility: BE / B Tech or equivalent degree (corresponding GATE paper) or B Des (CEED) or B.Arch (AR).
Admissions are through GATE/CEED/ AR scores.
Eligibility: ME / M Tech / M Sc(Engg) or equivalent degree including MBA (post BE / B Tech/ Master’s degree) for PhD and BE/ B Tech/ M Sc/ MA/ MCA or equivalent degree including MBA (post B Sc/ Bachelor’s degree) for M.Sc Engg.
For admission to Ph D / M Sc(Engg) degree programmes in Engineering Faculty
· Candidates with ME / M Tech / M Sc(Engg) or equivalent degree including MBA (post BE / B Tech/ Master’s degree) will be short-listed for interview for Ph D programmes based on their academic performance (including their past performance in the national entrance tests, if qualified).
· Candidates with BE/ B Tech/ M Sc/ MA/ MCA or equivalent degree including MBA (post B Sc/ Bachelor’s degree) should qualify in any one of the appropriate tests. They will be short-listed for interview based on the performance in the qualifying test.
