It is an affiliated college of Kerala University. It was established in the year 1985. The students have represented India in Athletics in SAF and Junior Asian Athletics and even won a Gold Medal in the International game, Kho Kho. They have won several medals in different events held at the National and Inter-university level.
Lakshmi Bai National College of Physical Education (LNCPE),was founded on August, 1985 under the auspices of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. With the amalgamation of the SNIPES with Sports Authority of India (SAI) on May 01,1987, LNCPE, Thiruvananthapuram became part of the academic wing of SAI, which is now under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. The three-year Bachelor of Physical Education aims to develop qualitative leadership to serve at Secondary and Senior Secondary School level as teachers of Physical Education and junior level coaches as well as health and fitness experts. The two-year Master of Physical Education course is to develop qualitative leadership to work at colleges as lecturers in Physical Education and sports as well as scientist programme designers and directors. The college has a Velodrome, Swimming Pool and Synthetic Track of International standards.
