Like other art forms the average pay and remunerations figures are not that easily available. Painters who have made a name for themselves earn quite well, those who join publishing or media houses start with package of 1.2 -2 lakhs per year. One can enter education sector and earn well. People in textile industry get around 1.5 -2.5 lakhs as starting salary.

Career as a professional painter is fast emerging as a good option. Now a days paintings are bought and traded as assets and seen as investment option.
