Courses and Eligibility
To become a Biotechnology engineer you can begin by taking science stream physics, chemistry and Mathematics after class 10th. It is not necessary to have a background in biology to do B Tech Biotechnology.
After 12th science one can do a B Tech in Biotechnology. The admission is through JEE.
One can also do M Tech in Biotechnology.

The B. Tech in Biotechnology course at IIT Guwahati, has two main components - core courses and electives. Core courses deals with courses on basic engineering like engineering mechanics; courses on chemical engineering and industrial biotechnology; and basic sciences, like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry. Each of these core courses are exhaustive in nature and intended to build your knowledge from scratch.
Along with the core courses, it offers a large number of elective courses on diverse topics from computational biology to nano-biotechnology. These elective courses are to hone your skills on the cutting edge subjects in biotechnology.
