"What do finance managers do?
A finance manager is responsible to manage and control financial resources in the company. Their work includes financial planning and budgeting, tax planning, treasury management, project management, profitability analysis, cost accounting and making financial strategy and its execution. Finance Managers prepare various reports and statements regarding the financial health of a company. They also make recommendations o the top management on cost reduction and other financial decisions. A part of their duty is also in ensuring the all the laws related to financial management and taxes are complied with by the organisation. Financial Managers usually get trained while working and reach higher positions. Especially in banks where experience is given more weightage as compared to educational qualifications. Banks often promote successful, experienced people as branch managers.
To be a finance manager, candidates need to prepare themselves academically with at least a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business administration. In an increasingly competitive market, a master’s degree—especially in business administration, economics, or risk management—is increasingly important. Employers value the analytical skills and the training in the latest financial methods and technology that these degrees provide their employees. "
