Furniture designer are highly innovative people who make our living places more interesting and comfortable.

What do furniture designers do?

Furniture designers produce designs for furniture items and related products. Some professional are involved only in the design aspects while many other are closely associated with the production also. Till very recent past furniture industry was not very organized, interior designers, architect mainly used to hire craft persons/ carpenters and were designing and creating furniture. Now there are specialized courses for furniture design and professionals are focusing on this area. Essentially it is a kind of formative art, but is it is fast emerging as a lucrative career. Today furniture is made of different types of material, like metal, plastic, wood etc. Moreover changing lifestyle and living have given challenges to the furniture designers to create furniture which is functional, yet very aesthetic. There are formal courses available these days that offer graduation level and post graduation level programs in Furniture Design. New age furniture designers study the life styles of various people and accordingly design furniture to suit their needs. They analyze the space, climate, traditions, tastes etc and then design.
