Introduction
— Anatole France
A veterinarian, or a vet, is a physician/surgeon for animals and a practitioner of veterinary medicine. Most vets look after domesticated animals, while some treat wild animals, too.
As per MapMyTalent research, veterinarians tend to the healthcare needs of animals, pets, livestock, and zoo animals. Many vets work in private clinics treating companion animals, for example dogs and cats. Many large-animal veterinarians are employed by farms, ranches, and even zoos. Indian army is also one of the big employers. A small number are unique veterinarians who treat horses, and food animal vets who work with farm animals. There are some vets who specialize in food safety and inspection. They check livestock for illnesses that can be transmitted to humans. There are research veterinarians also who do research on human and animal health conditions.
Animals can’t tell their problems and many pet owners do not spend a lot of money on diagnosis and tests, vets have to rely on their experience. Before touching the animal they should know about the temperament of animal also they should examine with a lot of care so that injury to self should be prevented.
